I have personally had no problems running Seti on my 1.6ghz Toshiba
wiith XP home and the CLI. I did buy a "notebook cooler" that sits
under the machine and also plugs into the wall. I got it at
www.cyberguys.com, not a plug just the facts.
And as far as quitting because old units are being re-processed,
wellll let me just say that I am not in charge of anything to do with
the project but do understand the need to recheck old data to ensure
its accuracy. Others just want to do new research only, me I just want
to help! I cannot say that processing the units is useless or not, but
I will continue until the switchover to Boinc. Then I will crunch for
Boinc. I do in fact have one machine crunching for Boinc now, my wifes
old one, a 1ghz Gateway with Win98Se, works fine, no problems.

Anyone have any tips for running SETI on laptop?
Yeah. Don't. The tiny fans suck in all kinds of dirt which will
eventually require cleaning. They were never intended for 100% duty
cycle operation. Plus, that computer you're talking about is so slow
that you're burning it up for essentially nothing.
It's especially a bad idea now because all we're doing is processing
the same damn work units over and over and over again -- see the
server status page -- the tape list hasn't changed in weeks. Unless
they do something about putting up new units, I'm shutting down at the
end of this week.
