| Subject: Seti@Home Work Unit cache for Windows XP? |

I'm currently running the latest version of the graphical client for
Windows XP on my laptop. Since I have a fairly fast processor (1.3Ghz
Centrino) and plenty (256Mb) of RAM, I keep the client running all the
time and it also automatically starts when Windows does. However, I'm
only connected to the Internet at weekends so I can't constantly
send/receive work units when necessary. When I am on the net though, I
do have a broadband (DSL) connection so transferring WU's to and from
the server isn't a problem.
My laptop crunches through work units at an average rate of 1WU/5
hours, and since I'm doing a Computer Science degree I'm using it for
several hours a day anyway. As a result, S@H finishes processing the
last WU I downloaded on Sunday by the end of Monday evening, so for
the rest of the week I'm not doing anything with it.
Ideally, what I need is a simple (preferably graphical) client that I
can run on Sunday evenings (either manually or through Windows
scheduler) to downlpad 10 WUs for S@H to be working on during the week
when I'm not on the net. Also, I'd want the client to automatically
transfer all the cached (i.e. completed) WUs back to the main S@H
server when I re-connect at the weekend.
Does anyone know of a client that would fit my needs? Most of the ones
on the S@H site are either broken links, haven't been updated for
years or are more to do with server installations which cache the WUs
and then distribute them to clients. As I said before, it seems a real
waste for all those unused CPU cycles during the week to be doing
nothing when they could be searching for ET. ;)
