I agree totally. If they gave a clause saying that either you get a chunk of
cash if something sucessful is discovered or that you and your
family/friends will be entitled to free treatment them maybe I'd consider
it. Probably not though. They make billions, let them buy computers or
computer time.
I don't know if the Great Internet Mersenne Prime project (GIMP) pays
out if your unit provides the biggest prime, but you certainly get your
name in the papers. Happened last year.
Can you imagine being the guy (or girl!) who provided evidence for ET?
I know where my time is going. 1646 units and counting!
