In a win98 running seti command line, what is the least amount of
processes I have to run.
I have only explorer,systray,msgsrv32.exe,mmtask.tsk
and mprexe.exe
running. What is and can I turn off
msgsrv32.exe,mmtask.tsk and
mprexe.exe? Can I also turn off systray?

Not really.
SETI is not gonna run and faster/slower no matter how much processes you have running,
the overall change will be no bigger then 1%. It's all cpu work.

If other processes are using cpu time then seti will run slower. So I
thought if I turn off all unnecessary processes and put seti at normal
priority it should use more of the cpu time.
Unless what you are saying is that the computer has priority and will
use cpu time according to it's needs and seti will use the rest.Is that
right?
I just want to turn off any processes like my auto updater for windows
and auto updater for anti virus, anti virus, firerwall[I use seti
offline].In my close program window I have only explorer,
systray,seti,setidriver,and winoldap on.With a processes explorer I see
more and should probably NOT turn off those processes like the ones
mentioned in 1st thread.
