I wish I had a dollar for every time I have read posts about "is the server
working?"
I hope the final BOINC software is going to be a bit more user-friendly when
this common occurrence happens.
What could be so hard about telling the user that the client can't contact
the server right now, but will try again soon ?

Sorry, I should have learned to wait just a little longer after four
years of dealing with seti@home's servers. The problem apparently
was a server problem, because it resolved itself immediately after I
made the previous post.
I will now slap myself around the room several times.
LOL.
Good reminder! The Uncertainty Principle is alive and well (or something
like that).
