when it starts to process a new work unit it runs at 60% per hour then
within 30 mins or so it drops off to anything between 32% to 40% per hour
(average WU time 2hrs 40mins).

I think if you go to a Pentium 4 you'll have to change the motherboard, as
the CPU pins are different and if you do that go for one with the highest
bus speed, that way it makes upgrades easier in the future.
