Unless I missed something nothing was said about any other race's
(minbari, Narn, Centuri, Shadow, etc..) evolution. Why should Lorien's
race be any different? None of the other first ones were really
discussed either. we only saw the Vorlon and Shadows up close.

For a place to find out what the writer was thinking (JMS was very
involved with on-line fandom and answered all sorts of questions) check
out JMSnews.com and also
http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/countries/us/guide/068.html Which
discusses the 1st episode in which Lorien appears.

Would you say that the universe created us? We evolved from amino acids,
then single celled creatures etc... Took us billions of years. Why
couldn't the same thing happen to create Lorien's race? Just because it
is not spelled out that they evolved from single cell organisims don't
mean it didn't happen.

I don't know where you see censorship, can you detail it for me?

I'll go back and check my DVDs and give you the exact lines explianing
Lorien's origin.

It was obvious to me this was blatant censorship.
Babylon's writers couldn't say anything about the First Ones evolution, so Just say they popped into existence! (the Universe
created them from the beginning)
THAT IS CREATIONISM!

I do live in hope to see good SF story lines and we do get them, but only in the very best SF programmes and then only 10% of
the
time max. Ones to look out for are Stargate SG1 (vastly improved since its cheesy beginnings), Deep Space Nine, the odd Voyager
show, and my fav - Babylon 5 (which I feel deeply betrayed at its pathetic U turn endings).
With the exception of episodes that were just there for padding, the serries just got more and more exciting. Until when
Sheridan
on Zahadom spoke to one of the 'First Ones'.

Where did your species come from? - 'Sheridan
We have always been here, from when the Universe started - 'First One'

My thoughts/emotions - Thud smash crash splat and despair - where's the off button?
Who ever wrote that dribble should be pilloried. Here was a complete lack of understanding of even the most basic aspects of
the
simplest tenants of science, and current knowledge.
I did watch the rest of the remaining shows with no more than a 10th of my previous pleasure. Here was an opportunity to
slaughter
some sacred cows (a required feature of good SF), instead I was watching a plug for creationism!

Ummm how do you get that as a plug for Creationism? First Lorien (the
1st one you mention) claimed to be the 1st Sentient life form, not the
creator of life. He specifically denied being a creator saying only the
universe can create life.

Second JMS (the creator of B5 and primary writer of the show) is an
avowed atheist. That does not stop him from writing characters with
strong religious beliefs, but he does not believe in a creator. Nor does
B5 espouse such a viewpoint.
