Actually, this will force the client to try to download WUs from the local
machines port 5001 and also print out a lot of intermediate results. The
client runs in background simply by starting and minimizing it. If you want
to hide the client, you need an add-on program to do this.

Not sure if this will help but under client properties under active
clients in the command line trye some thing like this
-proxy localhost:5001 -verbose
It will make it run in the background so you do have to see it works
for me
