I have an account at Setiathome that I created on march 4 2001. Lately, I
changed from internetprovider so my e-mail adress doesn't exist anymore. I
can still login with my old e-mail adress but since I lost my password, I
can't change my profile anymore.
Is there any chance that I could retrieve my password with an e-mail account
that doesn't exist anymore ? Or, could I transfer my results from the old
account to a new account ?
Not as far as I can tell, to either question. You might try
contacting the database administrators to see if someone can update
your account records manually, but I doubt they have a lot of time
for dealing with such requests. It's each user's responsibility to
safeguard his password; if you didn't request a copy before
abandoning the e-mail address of record you basically gave up your
ability to edit the account.
This is correct, EXCEPT their is NO CHANCE of the database people
doing anything for you!
You CAN still crunch under the old account, it will still accept your
workunits and give you credit. But without the password you CANNOT
change anything.
