I have access to about 15 PII 266, 20 PII 233 & 15 Pen 166 that are
currently doing nothing but gathering dust.

All have network cards co I was thinking of networking to my DSL modem to
allow them to update as each needs.

I have a number of small HD so figure to install Win 95 hook em up and let
em rip

But are these units just too slow to bother?
I don't need to have a monitor running except during setup so power isn't
a
biggy.

Since:

1] You aren't concerned about power consumption or climate control costs.

2] You don't mind the time, effort, or expense involved w/setup, networking,
and admin.

3] You are willing to re-config (or decommission), for the BOINC cut-over
(whenever...?).

Then absolutely, yes, I would do it, if you meet the above criteria. Even
though they are slow machines, they are still 50 machines, none-the-less.
Quite a fleet! I'm going to take a wild guess (very wild!) & say you'll get
at least ~35+ WU's/day (???), but that's a real 'shot in the dark', on my
part! = )

If using you're not already using it, I'd highly reccomend using CLI_3.03
found here:
ftp://alien.ssl.berkeley.edu/pub/

If you'd like to try and guesstimate your O.P., and don't already have this
proggy link, you can try using SETI Timer found here:

Good Luck,
