Is there a source of current system benchmarking of seti clients?
yes, have a look here:
http://www.cox-internet.com/setispy/tlctop200.htm
This list not only has x86 systems (Pentium, Athlon & Co.) but also
Alpha, Itanium and other platforms...
Benjamin, currently No. 25 on the list
Interesting page. My system is pretty much identical to the guy in position
18. Identical CPU/FSB/RAM amount/speed. (Tbred 2.1Ghz, 200Mhz FSB/RAM 512MB)
How do you benchmark? Is it an average of a certain amount of units or what?
His score is 2hrs 26mins whereas mine, averaging the last 20 units (data
fron SETISpy log) is 2.66 hours (2hrs 39 minutes). However that's with me
using my PC for other things, including gaming, while SETI is running.
I see everyone is using CLI 3.03, how can I tell if that's what I'm using?
I used "Easy SETI CLI" to install mine. Maybe I'd get better results just
letting the machine run SETI alone for a while, leave it on overnight or
something. My times vary from (in the last 20 units) 2.098hrs to 3.265hrs
(all completed). The fastest time for a completed unit in the log is
1.857hrs, last month. The log goes back to Dec 23rd last year and there are
a few units that completed in under two hours.
(Incidently, I see the guy who's machine is running at the same speed as
mine is using a 2.1v vcore!!! Mine is *only* 1.825v. His is an XP1700+, mine
is an XP1800+)
