The ADSL would only be used during WU download and results upload.  The only
way it could interfere with WU processing is if the drivers are consuming
CPU time.

No it shouldn't, but are you using a USB ADSL model, and do you have lots
of
other dongles running off USB, too?  This can cause problems...

Or you're infected with a virus. :(
