I have had problems U/L and D/L data and WUs for the last 2+ days. 

The server status was red, active but dropping connections. This coupled
with the stats pages being unavailable was probably the reason for the
system shutdown. Everything was slowly grinding to a halt. 

So, hardware replacement/upgrades and system reconfiguration/reboot was
very much on the cards.
