Hello,
I'm not overly familiar with Newsgroups but this is the only place I can
find for help with setting up SETI@Home! (The official message forum
relies
on the fact that users can use the program to set up an account...?).
To explain, I've followed these instructions:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/djdohboy/seti.htm
Yet when I try and type in my details for a new account, i get:
http://www.sarahanne.co.uk/temp/seti_error.png
I've tried looking through message forums, etc, for help but I've still no
idea where I'm going wrong... this seems like such a simple thing to set
up..?
I've set the preferences to just connect as a screensaver and to conntect
automatically whenever needed (the latter because I'm on
Telewest/Blueyonder
broadband). I'm running Windows XP Home and don't have any funny
modifications to the OS etc, no firewalls... it's just a straightforward
machine that should be able to use SETI@Home without any glitches.
Please help! :)
Sarah Anne.

Sarah,
I'm on Telewest as well, and having the same problem trying to connect to
SETI to send / retrieve work units.
It's a problem SETI@home know about, and in time it will resolve itself.
So, for now, no crunching can take place if we cannot get work units...!
Frustrating but true.
