Well this is what the server status message keeps saying but I think they
are not telling the whole truth. Something more serious is happening. I've
been trying on and off for 8 hours now and haven't gotten a nibble. Anytime
in the past when you get that "dropping connections" message I've always
been able to get through after a few attempts.
I know enough about computers and digital communications to be realistic
about connectivity problems but I think the SETI project sometimes fails to
provide an adequate level of communication to its clients. After all we're
volunteers, and participation is our only reward. They owe us more.
Agreed, and the communications should indicate what they are doing, plan
to do and when they anticipate the problem being solved.
I seem to remember a message stating a lint to Cogent was finally
identified as the problem. Also, a part was being order and replaced.
Obviously the pressure/load on the lash up temporary repair has failed
in a big way.
