Dave,

Check the Add-On's link from the main SETI@Home website. There you'll find
a list of Add-ons for various operating systems.

I'm currently running two machines with XP Pro.

My main machine an AMD 2400+ is running the SETI 3.08 Gui Client with
SetiGate as as cacheing client in combination with SetiSpy for monitoring
WU's. I get processing times between about 3.5 to 5 hours depending on the
WU angle and what I'm doing on the computer while processing is in progress.
I like to maintain about a 3 - 6 days cache at all times for this machine.
All runs smoothly without any issues.

Machine #2 is an older AMD K2-350 also running XP Pro. On this machine I
run the SETI 3.03 Gui Client in combination with SetiSpy. Average CPU time
on this machine is about 35 hours per WU. Again all runs without any
problems or issues.

I've never been able to successfully network these two machines some odd
reason (despite repeated attempts) so my SetiGate caches WU's only for my
main machine. During this outage I have been lucky and this second machine
has been able to retrieve WU's when needed. Worst case scenerio I could
always manually transfer WU's between the cache and this second machine.

I defuinitely recommend installing either Seti Queue or SetiGate on your
machine or farm to ensure your machines have a steady supply of WU's. With
BOINC looming on the horizon I'm not sure how much longer SETI@Home will
continue in its current form, but I'd rather error on the side of caution
and be prepared to continue crunching in its current form until we're
officially told otherwise.

I'd definitely recommend Seti Queue or SetiGate to anyone not yet using
a
cacheing Add-On, computers issues like the one currently affecting the
SETI
Server definitely justify keep a small cache of fresh WU's.

I went and checked the URLs recommended, and I can't see any caching
software specifically for Windows XP although a couple are described as
working OK with it. Do you have XP and are there any problems?
