Now that BOINC is being released and running in tandum with the Classic
SETI@Home does anyone know whether or not its possible to run both projects
(SETI@Home and BOINC) on the same account once you activate your account on
BOINC?

SC

Let me see if I can help you in that....when you go to the new page it
gives you opportunity to sign up for the project. If you choose to do
so it will ask you for your email address that you used when you
signed up for Seti.
To that email address will be sent a project url and user id that you
will then use to sign into the Boinc project. I don't know if there
are any provisions for people that have lost the use of their email
address other than to sign on as a new user. Of course if you still
have your original email from Berkeley you would have your password
and you could change the email to your current one....everyone DID
save those, RIGHT!!!
As far as credits for work done, the Boinc project credits them MUCH
different that the original Seti and therefore they are NOT carried
over. Presently there is a line on your Boinc user account page
stating how many workunits you have completed under Seti. Or there
will be when you sign up and the conversion is complete.
There are other reasons for not converting the units, but it is a
whole new project and it is best to start fresh.

That URL is changing to http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ any moment now,
according to the news at http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/ ..so
we'll see how the URLs change. :-)

From the latter URL supplied above (The "Classic" SAH site front page):

A new version of SETI@home based on BOINC, is now available. We'll be
transitioning to this new version; for now, you can use the new version or
stick with SETI@home Classic.
