Now that BOINC is being released and running in tandum with the
Classic SETI@Home does anyone know whether or not its possible to run
both projects (SETI@Home and BOINC) on the same account once you
activate your account on BOINC?

Let me see if I can help you in that....when you go to the new page it
gives you opportunity to sign up for the project. If you choose to do
so it will ask you for your email address that you used when you
signed up for Seti.
To that email address will be sent a project url and user id that you
will then use to sign into the Boinc project. I don't know if there
are any provisions for people that have lost the use of their email
address other than to sign on as a new user. Of course if you still
have your original email from Berkeley you would have your password
and you could change the email to your current one....everyone DID
save those, RIGHT!!!
As far as credits for work done, the Boinc project credits them MUCH
different that the original Seti and therefore they are NOT carried
over. Presently there is a line on your Boinc user account page
stating how many workunits you have completed under Seti. Or there
will be when you sign up and the conversion is complete.
There are other reasons for not converting the units, but it is a
whole new project and it is best to start fresh.

Just downloaded it and installed it. Had to register with my old
account first. It was pretty easy, just enter the email address then
wait for the email they send to you with the registration code.

Running it on a Win2KPro SP4 Box that was running the classic CLI as a
service.

Did the stop_after_send on a WU, let it finish then stopped the service
prior to installing BOINC. It started right up and downloaded work.

I nosed around the new BOINC directory and found the boinc_cli
executable much to my surprise. GREAT I thought, but it would not
install as a service. boinc_cli -install appears to run then errors
out. Says the service was not added and it's marked for deletion. It
does find the project, reports version etc...

Tried rebooting etc, no joy. Just for grins, I changed the old SETI
Service AppDirectory and Application strings to correspond with the new
BOINC install directory and boinc_cli.exe, started the service and it's
now running at 97-100%. Shows it as "setiathome_3.08" in the task
manager. I'll have to wait and see what happens.

The new results page shows the BOINC stats and classic results but the
reported classic results are about 4,400 short of what they actually
are.
