Currently Berkely is tweaking the system so you may get more than you
think you should or less than you want but give them time, there are
over 5 million registered users on Seti Classic. How many come over to
Boinc we will have to wait and see.

I had mine set to between 2 and four days and they sent me out 42 units!! I
seem to be averaging 3 hours a unit (up 20% from S@H classic) so that's
slightly more than five days worth *if* my PC was switched on all the time
and doing nothing else. Which isn't the case. I have it set to crunch all
the time but the machine is only on for about 12-14 hours a day and some of
that is gaming which takes up 80%+ CPU.

It's a hassle having one preferences page when you may be running on
multiple machines. My preferences were set to leave at least 5GB of HDD
space free (I set it up when I first installed on my main machine, I wasn't
sure if they were going to fill my HDD! That section of 'preferences' looks
a little scary with the default figures that were there before I changed
them). However, I have a system running a smaller HDD and I set that up last
night and left it running and went to bed. It's not crunching and the log
tells me it's because I don't have the HDD space that is set in my
preferences. I've changed it now but it's a clumsy system IMO. *And* it's
refusing to re-connect for 2 hours so that machine is running, wasting
electricity for nothing, and has been all night.

Interesting to note that the idle machine's CPU is *very* well cooled. It's
a 900Mhz Celeron with a HSF from a Barton XP2500+ on it, copper with al.
fins. Case temp (Full tower, several fans) is 21C and CPU temp is 20C.
Must be wind-chill dropping the temp below ambient. Under full load it's
about 10C above case temp.
