Hey...might be a nice find, for a svc work-around, tho I was under the
impression the boinc_cli -install switch worked as a straight-up CLI
install, and not as a service install. I could be mistaken, though.

Running BOINC as a Windows Service.

The link says to do a "boinc_cli -install", but it also said you had to
compile the boinc_cli.exe yourself using VS.NET. I was just nosing
around in the BOINC directory to see what was there. Looks like they
decided to do it for us.

You're absolutely correct. I cmdln navigated to the correct path, and used
the cmd: "boinc_cli /?". I found the same list you did. The -install switch
was the second option down, and IS listed as the svc install cmd.

LOL - I've been pokin' around, everywhere, tryin' to find the
3.08.exe. After takin' a look at my WU times, I'd love to replace it
w/CLI_3.03 to see what happens. I don't know if it would work, tho I'm
pretty sure Berkeley wouldn't be too hot on the idea. <g>

I don't think it will make much diff if any. I ran it on one box and
saw no discernable time difference. It was mainly a security update for
buff overflow.

The link you provided is to CLI_3.08. No prob, I've got the general link to
the same ftp server, and CLI_3.03, plus I've also got CLI_3.03 archived.

Are you stating you tried substituting 3.03 in place of 3.08? This is what
I was attempting to do. Heretofore, 3.03 provided ~10% increase in OP, and
I'd be intertested to see if this remains true w/i the BOINC environment.

Irrespective of whether you sub'ed 3.03, or 3.08, would you be good enough
to recount where you found the base client, or how you accomplished this?

Thx
