For sure. I have mine set to show the pretty pictures for five
minutes, then turn off. I also have the "Go to blank screen" option
in 'settings' set to five minutes as I believe that, even if the
monitor is off, if the 'blank screen' option isn't set the CPU/GPU
are both still working hard to generate graphics, even though they
aren't being displayed as the monitor is off. With the CPU working
to display graphics like that it's got to slow down your crunching.
UMMM, the cpu/gpu are still generating the displays you just aren't
seeing them. The computer has no way of knowing whether you will turn
on the screen any second, so it generates the stuff just in case.
Yeah? Well, I think you're wrong. If you use the 'blank screen after x
minutes' option under the screensaver settings then the graphics are no
longer processed. What else would that setting be there when you also have
the 'turn the monitor off after x minutes' setting?
How are we to resolve this?
