On one of the Boinc pages
(http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/transition.php) it
mention's (in an example) that Boinc will only send WU's to
machines with 512 MBs of Ram. Does this mean that older
computers with less then 512 MB of Ram will no longer be
able to take part in the Boinc Program or am I miss
interpretating something?
The "WUs" refer to future programs such as 8-bit S@H analysis,
broadband data analysis etc. Kind of ironic to specify RAM without
CPU requirements, because my P II 233 has 768 MB RAM. That
could mean my P II qualifies, whereas the latest P4 with less than
512 MB would not...
Their calibration/system-snooper software identified all my machines as
having 900-and-something-KB cache (Can't check right now, site's down)
whereas they vary between 128 and 256KB.
It correctly IDed my girlfriend's machine as having 512KB.
Also, my main machine is listed twice on their site as I foolishly installed
to the wrong directory initially, realised my mistake as it was D/Ling the
first unit, uninstalled and installed to the directory I wanted it in.
However, when I click the "Merge computers' option the 'other computer'
doesn't show up on the page.
Still, I have 37.38 total credit already!!! With an average credit of 2.92.
I still don't understand the 'average credit' thing but hey. Strangely, the
credit is only showing on one of my machines. even though the others are on
the same account and have connected to the server several times since the
credit was ratified.
LOL, I just went to cut'n'paste 37.38 to my hand-held calculator, got as far
as highlighting it and was about to hit Ctrl-C. I must be going nuts.
