Yeah... xboinc doesn't exist, though.  Boincgui works quite well, but
all it does is monitor the status of an already-running boinc client via
the gui_rpc socket.  It won't start or control boinc for you at this
stage of the game.

A small script would make the difference transparent, wouldn't it? 

Just have the script start BOINC, then start the GUI.... 

Add an icon to the script and click on it to make it go. :-)
