Sounds to me just like a funky download problem. I'd try that download
again... otherwise, I can mirror the unzipped boinc file if your version
of gzip can't open it. Is that Debian Stable you're using? Maybe it's
just too freakin' old...
So I tried the source. Made sure all the required packaged were
installed, including the not mentioned mysql development package for
mysql_config, but it fails in the client stage with the following error
messages regardless of what version I download:
app.C: In method `int ACTIVE_TASK::start(bool)':
app.C:418: `errno' undeclared (first use this function)
app.C:418: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
app.C:418: for each function it appears in.)
What CVS date are you using?
Don't use the CVS dated after the 27th of June. There were some
checkins that aren't backwards-compatible with the existing applications
(SETI@Home itself).
I haven't seen that error yet, that I can recall. I just compiled the
latest CVS version to verify.
Oh, you did say Debian.... just to verify, we're talking about a recent
version of GCC, right? Not something as outdated as 2.95.... boinc
doesn't build with gcc < 3.x.
