My Athlon Thunderbird 1.4GHz 266MHz DDR FSB(133 x 2), not sure how
much cache it has, says it'll take 4:56:11 for all my uncompleted
units but the last 3 completed have taken almost the
same times of about 5:30.
I have 796MB of RAM and this machine is on all day, but off at night
cause it's too loud to sleep with ;)
BOINC performed a second benchmark this morning before starting
processing, but I don't know why. Maybe it does this every now and
then to try and adjust it's calculations.
I have a G4 Sawtooth Mac running on the CLI version for OS X, which
doesn't have a GUI, but if I find a GUI that tells me how long it's
supposed to take for each unit I'll post that too. I did notice
however that on the benchmark performed at the start was higher than
the Athlon at the same CPU frequency.
G4 specs are 1.4GHz CPU upgrade daughter card, 100MHz FSB and RAM and
896MB of RAM on OS X 10.3.4.
It has 256KB L2 cache at 1.4GHz and 2MB L3 cache at about 280MHz(1/5
CPU frequency).
Thanks Devon, that's the sort of thing I'm interested in. I'm mainly curious
as to how the various different CPUs benchmark in comparison to each other.
It'd be nice to see some P3-P4 or Athlon 64 "To completion" times quoted
here. I think the Athlons rule the roost for SETI.
