But I'd like to expound on an issue

Clive's post strongly posits a scenario leading to a negative view on the
very topic that is the purpose of the n/g: SETI. He has every right to post
his thoughts, but one needs to expect a strongly contrarian POV is going to
draw some impassioned heated responses. Some may take it as flame-bait
or trolling.
