Of course, another reason we may not be picking up alien signals if the
RF era is relatively short lived before a far more reliable means of
communication is found. Even forgetting the possibility of FTL/exotic
communication I think such as Neutrino communication isn't beyond the
bounds of realism.
Very good point, IMHO!
Considering we made the jump from Newtonian physics, to Quantum
physics, only a little over a century ago; And we made the jump from
a "flat" space-time continuum, to a relativistic model, w/i the last
century; The advancements in physics that may occur during the next
several millennia will surely boggle the mind!
We really are only at the very beginning of an exponential curve, ATM,
when it comes to our understanding and capabilities, as relating to physics,
IMO. The more we learn, the better we can build tools to allow us to
learn more. A synergistic learning circle, if you will.
Let's just hope we can manage to not destroy ourselves on the way up.
