transfer the wu's between that pc and my home pc, and this has worked
really well.
Is there a similar way to do this with BOINC, or can it only be used
with a pc connected to the internet?
Internet connected PCs only at the moment I'm afraid. That is gonna cut out
a lot of potential crunchers.

Well that has to be one of the most stupidest ideas on the planet.
At work I have almost finished setting up seti on just under 100
machines half of which are 2.4GHz and the others 3.2GHz however
SetiQueue cannot get through the restrictions of the local internet
proxy so I have to transfer work units via CD and sometimes DVD and
upload/download at home. Even if I found how to set up the proxy
correctly it wouldn't be of much help because work is charged a premium
for the satellite connection and wouldn't be happy if several extra gigs
were added to the downloads each month.
So I think it's definitely a stupid idea that Boinc isn't accounting in
for offline machines any way.
