Has anyone got a valid archive of the executables of BOINC for Linux? The

I vaguely remember reading it'll only compile with GCC 2.96, though I
haven't gotten round to trying myself.
Wouldn't install with 2.95, won't install with 3.xx (whatever "unstable"
package I upgraded to). I'm just looking for someone who has successfully
compiled it or managed to get a working version from the web site.
For the sake of curiousity I went and tried with GCC 3.3.3 and the BOINC
core client compiled fine. The actual SETI client wouldn't go beyond
the first line or two.
