Since you're running XP, you may consider using 'system restore' to
restore to a point prior to the BOINC and Mozilla installs. If this
works, then re-install your new progs, creating a new restore point
PRIOR to EACH install.
You DO always remember to set a sys restore point prior to any
installs/updates/re-configs; Right??? ;-)
/me knows too well from (stupid) experiences :-o
Actually, I did have a restore point to go to. And I used Restore.
But Seti still rebooted on me. I know it was working back then.
Anyway, I then tried to undo the restore, and it said it couldn't.
Then I tried to go to a more forward point, and it said it couldn't.

Not sure what to say, Anon. Sys restore has bailed me out several times,
ever since I ran the dreaded Me. I just tried a previous restore point,
did an 'undo', and then toggled between a couple points, and came back.
Everything worked fine, for me.
You initially thought that BOINC or Mozilla was the prob, but you
managed a restore to a known good config, and it still failed. Now
you're also failing Prime.
This leads me to believe that Misfit is right in claiming you may have
a cpu related h/w prob. Did you somehow mis-align the HSF? Is it
running? Did you mess around in the BIOS, particuliarly with the Vcore?
Could you have done something to cause a thermal change leading to
overheating? Are your PSU rails in spec under load?
After your Prime failure, it now smells very much h/w related, to me. You
could always reformat & reinstall to ease your mind concerning a s/w issue,
I guess. But it sounds h/w to me, too.
