Try not to get too sentimental about a particular "user id". You know
that you've added to science with that. Now its time to move onwards
with more (new) science.
I know what you mean, but its the principal of the thing.
I do a lot of volunteer work, in my community, via Ham radio, etc...
I'm learned a long time ago not to expect the world in return. But I
have learned to require a rapor with the people in the events I work
with. I don't even need a thank you. But if I need to talk to you,
ask a question - if you're not going to talk to me (s@H no email addr,
no official activity on msg boards/news groups, no FAQ's addressing my
issue) I won't play ball.
I can understand S@H may not "fix" my account for me, fine - then they
don't want my units. I get the point, I can live with that.
But not to have any communication avenue with their users is just poor
PR, a poor way to run a project.
A non-automated facility for user maintenance is not practical for a
project on such a huge task as s@h.
I don't think having a public email address is that hard. I don't
think having volunteers answering emails is too hard. Dean did it in
his campaign.... with volunteers. Saw on TV, had like 3 volunteers,
answering basic queries via email - forwarding if needed to real
campaign staff.
Now you've had your whinge and been re-enthused by the group...
I'm not re-enthused infortunately...
