Dear K,
I wrote:
I use "SETI Driver" to cache WUs (work units). I've been running the
Command Line (CLI) version (-not- the pretty graphical version) with SETI
Driver for so long, I don't even remember what happens if you run the CLI
client by itself, solo.
That's a little convoluted.
SETI has a pretty, moving, graphical client, and a boring, non-graphical CLI
client. More CPU cycles are available for calculations if you choose the
boring CLI client. So the CLI version will [generally] finish WUs faster
than the graphical version.
If you want to switch from graphical to CLI, go to
http://setiathome2.ssl.berkeley.edu/unix.html , and search for
"i386-winnt-cmdline.exe" The name may say "NT," but it also works on
Windows 95, 98, 2000, and NT. I'll bet a dollar it works on XP, also.
Someone should update the page...
They're offering cli-version 3.08. I'm using cli-version 3.03, which goes
faster, but I don't see it offered on the webpage. Snag.
