A term that seems to be getting a lot of use since SAH went BOINC'ing!
Anyone got a quick explanation???
See:

###
Transitioner
This program is supplied by BOINC and is application independent. It
handles state transitions of workunits and results. It generates initial
results for workunits, and generates more results when timeouts or
errors occur.

Is it a general I.T term, or SAH specific?
SAH specific to describe the server mechanism updating its databases
between states to describe what's happening to whatever WUs.
A bit like the neurons and electrical pulses in your brain keeping you
walking and talking.
/me now has more empathy towards SAH's transitioners' "hiccups".
You might say they've had a bit of a 'brainstorm' (:-))
Ahh...it's a BOINC specific daemon!
I'm a h/w guy, but don't work in I.T. I never would've guessed it was s/w. I
assumed it was a h/w component. :-o
Thx, Martin.
