You post faster than I can type & link, f/fgeorge. :-o
It is called being RETIRED!
I am retired on disability, because of bad feet, from the Fire Dept
after 24 years, not NY, and spend alot of time in front of the
computer.
Very good for you f/f george! Not the medical situation, but the
retirement situation. It's pretty amazing how many ppl are getting
into Distributed Computing, and computing in general, that are either
retired, or due to medical or personal reasons, find theirselves in a
similar situation, with time to enjoy computing, as a hobby. And not
just former technology workers, or engineers and programmers, but ppl
from all walks of life.
That'd include me. I'd rather be hale and healthy though.
DC is an awesome hobby, not just from a personal technological POV,
but also in having the ability to augement the personal side of the
hobby with the social interaction that occurs w/i cyber communities.
I recently took on some big personal responsibilies (AKA wife, house,
& kids; Or, as I prefer to refer to it: "That societal triumvirate
designed to keep men in economic bondage!").
After leading an earlier life of blissful bachelor freedom &
debauchery, I now appear to be condemned to spend the latter half of
my life in constant toil, in what appears to be a shining example of
the cliche' "No Rest for the Wicked". Unless I hit the Lotto, or a
the proverbial unknown rich uncle expires, my retirement horizon
appears to be long after my natural life will come to an end. :-(
I am envious of you, sir! ;-)
</end OT>
You poor bugger Strat, I have tears in my eyes. ;-)
