If you plan to try out a stage1 install, it's going to taske you some
time ;o)  My Pentium4 1,6ghz sweated for some 25 hours, compiling Gentoo.

There's some very good work in that distro to let you reconfigure literally millions of lines of source code to produce your own fully customised version... and it all works!
