Yep...ben a member for a year now!
My Pentium4 1,6ghz has been crunching at - I guess - 95% of the time.
I do a WU at 5h 46m. How is it possible that others do >10K WUs faster
than
I've done my 1K WUs?
Is it possible that the braggs here, are owed to someone elses
processingpower? Ie, their employer?
Some, but many are hobbyists running small fleets AKA "farms".
Most, though, are just ppl who've been in it from near the
beginning, and maybe have several "family" machines at home,
and maybe one at work, or one or two friends or relatives they
may have convinced to run SAH.
Just curious....and a bit discouraged...:-(
Don't be discouraged! Enjoy the sound of the coin jingling in your
pockets!
First you start with a single machine.
Soon, you add a 4 port router, and another machine or two.
Then, some added parts to assist in overclocking to boost
your output.
Along the way there's always an old machine or two, that
someone is ready to give away for next to nothing.
Now, some more networking is required.
Add in that occassional "deal" that's "too good to pass up",
or the new technology "you've got to try".
In due time, your monthly electric bill is higher than your food bill,
your credit card is maxed out, you're on first name basis w/the
FedEx guy, and your airconditioner's workin' overtime!
= = = = =
Seriously, though, it's an excellent hobby. ENJOY!
