There is no appreciable speed up at night when the Macs are not using

runs faster on my PC than on my Macs, so again, what gives?

You can check in Terminal with "top -u -s15" which processes
are using how many percent of your processor. Having terminated
all applications SETI uses about 90-95 %.

On my G4s (about 640 MB memory, 460-800 MHz) I need about 12
hours to complete a work unit (version 3.08, CLI).
