But I'd like to give an object opinion :
[... summary & details ...]
Yeah, I won't attempt to be overly altruistic, I CAN be a statswhore.
More critically, I build my machines specifically w/DC in mind, and hate
to see 'em go idle, or even worse, crunch data worthlessly. It's not just
science, but my enjoyment of DC as a hobby. And as a hobby, above all,
it nust be FUN! Optimizing, configuring, and troubleshooting, are fun, to a
point. Getting a new project running and debugged, and being part of the
debug process is fun, to a point.
Some good comments and a good summary. I agree.
From my earlier posts, people should guess that I'm for the Science,
both astro and computer. The 'stats' are a 'fun' playful aside. (And
yes, I see that some a very emotive and passionate about their stats...)
This is obviously a bleeding-edge new development and foul-ups can be
/expected/ (whether or not anticipated (:-)).
I have BOINC trickling along helping with whatever debugging and
shakedown s@h developers need to do. I also have other projects running
to pick up any slack until the s@h system settles down.
Note: Without the present 'snafu' and associated angst by some, we'd
still be waiting out further tests and trails to hit whatever hiccups
later. The 'power-stats' grabbers are just on a bit of a development
gamble that the system hangs together for them to 'compete' so soon.
s@h are developing a VERY NEW and VERY BIG NEW system. Bugs and all
manner of things through to outright vandalism by some users is to be
expected.
I hope most users will understand and ride through on the new developments.

JMNSHO's, as usual. ;-)
Ouch... There's almost too many letters in that to decipher. I'll pass
seti's message onto you or misfit to decode! (;-))
Happy crunchin',
