I pretty much agree with everything you said Strat.

If you were a women, I'd make you my wife! ;-)

Scary thought. I haven't heard anything like that since I was in jail, and
then they didn't use the first part of your sentance. ;-)

When you choose to be a leader, you get the glory, or you get the
crap.
At least you had the guts to do something. That's worth a lot, in my
book.

Thanks mate. It *has* been a bit thankless at times. Actually all the time
now I think about it.

I must admit that I like the idea that a small
team I started and continue to nurture was in the top 100.

I haven't experienced it, but I think I can relate to the feeling.
Remember how I've toyed w/starting an alt.guitar.fender n/g, and also
bounced back the alt.sci.boinc idea?

Both groups would be worthwhile I feel. More and more people are discovering
usenet every day. I hear a figure of 10% bandied about, being the number of
people who have internet access who know about or participate in usenet. Sad
really, to me, usenet is one of the best parts of the 'internet'.

I have mobo's and
CPU's scattered throughout the house and cables everywhere.

Except for my wive's PC, my others aren't even bottoned up. My
removable drives are sittin' on the top of the case frames, and I'd
have to search for the case covers. I've got another mobo to fill,
and I'm considering getting a Prescott, and skipping the case, and
just let it run as a collection of parts on a bookcase shelve. Save
some money, and cooling hassles!

I have a large removable mobo tray from an early ATX case (the case is
long-gone, I didn't realise I threw it out but you get that when you have as
large a collection of PC parts as I do) that has the rear bracket for
securing expansion cards attached. I used to have a 'wall PC' running as my
internet gateway. With a modern ATX mobo fitted it had enough room left on
it to screw down a HDD to the base as well. I extended the ATX connector on
a PSU (so it was out of the way) and a molex for the HDD. It was quite a
talking-point and useful for showing people how a PC is put together. Alas
the intenet gateway evolved into being a file server and entertainment
centre connected to our stereo for playing mp3's and DivX's so needed more
HDDs, a SCSI card and a CDROM and DVD drive so now it's all in a full tower,
with my latest purchase, a 520 watt, twin-fan 'Task' PSU. It was good while
it lasted though.

(How can I run
two mobo's off one PSU? I'm short of PSU's and funds).

Easy; Just splice another ATX connector on to the PSU's original, and
plug it into another mobo. I have NOT done this myself, but peeps on
my team have, in the past. IIRC correctly, powering on one sys will
cause it to boot, and will also pwr up the other sys, but the 2nd sys
will not auto-boot, unless you press both power buttons w/i that
several seconds window, when you 1st press either machine's power
button.

Besides sufficient running pwr, the only other concern would be
start-up surge current, as I see it.

Interesting, thanks. If I could get a case that could house two mobos it
would be an interesting project. I have a few 'integrated' mATX mobo's with
video, sound and NIC on-board so it wouldn't need room for expansion cards.
Hmmm............

 >o far I've been
relying on force of personality to get members, it would have been
nice to say "Join a top-100 team" and give my over-worked
personality a rest. <g>. Last time I looked we'd slipped to 126 or
so, just above Carolyn's Clinic.

Must feel pretty good, even if temporary. They're a large team, and
were my other consideration, before I joined TLC.

Yep, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. <g>. Oh, hang on, that could be
because I haven't had a shave for a month and have just peed my pants. :-)

Anyway, I wish Berkeley would be more communicative.

Communication during probs is ALWAYS a good thing. I'm with
you a 100%, here.

Is the problem fixed
now? Or should I maybe turn my machines off for a night so we can
afford to eat at least once this week?

If the outage goes long enough, the decision may be out of your hands,
unless you want to try another project.

Not really. SETI is enough to satiate my desire for DC. Unless there was a
pay-for-cycles DC project that was worthwhile and covered electicity costs
with a bit extra as profit. I have the hardware, just not much of an income.

Cheers,
