As for me, I've decided to continue on w/BOINC, since my sys's are set
up
to revert to CPDN if I run out of SAH2 work. Either way, I guess I
really
can't loose.

I'm fully on Linux here so I need to wait a while yet for CPDN to be
ported over. The shenanigans to run the CPDN Windoze version on Linux
Wine is not worth the effort for me here.

I've never messed with Linux in DC, though I did some very cursory
commands w/Solaris, at work. Some guys on my DC team claim the very
fastest SAH WU completion times come with using the SAH *nix CLI
running in WINE over Windows. I've never verified this personally.

There's various other DC projects to keep the CPUs warm while idle.

(And other various Windoze boxes continue to be a nightmare just for
running virus scanning and adaware anti-ads crap! User's are just far
too 'web-clicky'... Must get them off IE!!! Daren't load them up with
anything else to add to my maintenance time... (:-((

The security, patching, & AV updating required by M$ O/S's would seem
to me, to be one of the best reasons to deploy *nix. As you mentioned,
just dumping IE for something like Opera, would probably reduce at
least 1/2 the security risks associated w/M$.

Disabling OE's Preview Pane probably reduces 50% of the remainder
of the risk! ;-)

But the probs w/M$ security issues is exasperated by the huge majority
installed base M$ enjoys, including the server market. The script kiddies
are gonna' go for the easiest, most prevalent targets to hit.

Guess that goes w/the territory, when you have the majority market
share: Most everyone codes to you first, including peeps coding malware!
