So who's still complaining of the lack of s@h PR?
We're now on daily news updates:
Yeah, they seem to be getting better. I'm glad I decided to stick
around thru this, when I was on the fence, although I've temporarily
dropped SAH for short periods in the past, for a variety of reasons.
So my leave would have been tempoarary.
I still believe they mishandled the roll-out, but what's done is done. I
believe the Dev team rank and file are really hemmed in by politics. The
stakes are extremely high. I'd very much suspect the team is pretty much
under a gag rule, allowing only 'signed off' info to go public. Andreson
was just at Oxford, Wertheimer is going to Harvard, and who knows
the busy professional schedules these guys keep outside of BOINC?
IMO, this is a proj done on a scale rivalling a commercial proj, with
high public visibility, but having the PR resources and methods of a
university reasearch proj. And therein lies the problem: A substantial
segment of the BOINC users are expecting SAH2 to perform to
in a commercial manner, and have PR that meets commercial standards.
It's just not going to happen.
Not unless $Bill buys up BOINC, and we start seeing BOINC spots
running during the Superbowl.
Well, I guess stranger things have happened! ;-)
