The Centrino is a _lot_ better than the P4.
Well, the Pentium-M is better at the same clock rate than the P4. Centrino
is _not_ a CPU, Centrino is the name for the combination of Pentium-M CPU,
intel chipset and intel WLAN...
Don't know if it is twice
the performance though. For some tasks, it might be!
A rough estimation is that a P-M is ~1.6x the performance of a P4 with same
clock speed. That means a P-M 1.5GHz is _around_ the same performance than a
P4 2.4GHz. For some applications (i.e. floating point) and for most games
the P4 is faster.

last year we got a centrino 1,6 and the times were this:

we had a lot of high angle range wus but this times are more then 2x
faster than our 1,6gh p4 cpus.
even the vlar wus were really fast.
about 2 months ago we had a 1,7ghz centrino and the times were a
little bit faster. normal angle range near 2 hours.
