My room is noticeably cooler with no 'extra' stuff running,

Up here in Eastern Ontario the air conditioning season only lasts 2-3
months, and should end soon. I usually turn off my screensaver when
the air conditioning is on just so as not to have one electrical
device fighting another. For the bulk of the year, the heat from the
computer helps to keep the place warm, so it's kind of free. So I am
not really too upset about SETI @ HOME being dead beside the road,
just at the way it has spun out. And it's been a good opportunity to
vent about the cultural deficiencies which I find so glaring in a
project whose whole purpose is to communicate with real people.

I hope that there's a significant percentage of the serious "clients"
are like me and prepared to stick around, but I really fear that SAH
has squandered an awful lot of the enthusiasm that was out there.

Hopefully not. Within my own team I've pumped up the BIONC version to the
extent of getting several new members. I just pray they hang on through the
tough times and stick with it. So far they are, most people realise that not
everything works as intended 'out of the box'.
