I tried to download the new version of boinc, and when it tried to
install I got an error message that something was corrupted. What
gives?

Sounds like something is corrupted.

Try again and see if the problem repeats. If so, then ask again but
with further details please.

Note that the s@h link will be getting hammered at the moment and may
well be maxed out. Some connections might get dropped or time out.

Also, I thought that Boinc was supposed to be self-updating. Or was
that just my imagination?

You update Boinc. The project clients are automatically updated by the
Boinc client. Boinc is just the supervisory framework.

Exactly. My SETI client was just updated to 4.03 via BOINC 4.05.
