What's SETI looking for?
Any kind of non-natural radio emission. This would not, in my opinion, be
expected to be a communication directed towards us. It would be an emission
which is incidental to some other activity i.e. communication within their
own society, or maybe some activity we cannot guess at the present time.
Maybe there's none out there, but we won't know unless we look long and
hard.
