Hi,

I had to reinstall WinXP w/SP2 and now SETI won't install. It does
absolutely nothing when I click on the exe file. It goes through the
decompression sequence and then closes and that's it.

I've tried and tried and tried, but nothing works. SETI does work with
WinXP SP2, btw. I updated Win XP through MS web site and the program
worked fine. It's just I can't install it from a clean installation of Win
XP SP2.

Any ideas? I've tried unzipping the exe and try it that way, but it didn't
work either.

I read the bottom of the download page, but that didn't help. I emptied
every Temp dir on the computer, also.

I did noticed one thing. I put the exe file in the Temp dir and then ran
it. It created a temp file, WZSB.tmp, and after 30 seconds promptly
deleted it before installation. I was able to access the temp file and it
shows all of the setup files.

I just realized the following: the program is by passing the installation
process altogether. It goes straight to the deletion of the temp dir it
creates.

I'm stumped now. Why would it delete the temp dir before installing the
program?

Mike,

I can't say I've heard of anyone experiencing this problem before. The
solution that comes to mind, which may not be the correct one, based on the
information you provided would be to uninstall SP2, reinstall Seti Classic
then once its working, reinstall SP2.

Just an idea.
