I see BOINC 4.09 is out, a must for windows 9x users, what about
2K/XP? Can I just upgrade over the top of 4.05 without losing WUs
etc?

Thanks.
That is what most people should do. Just stop processing units, finish
the one you are on if you don't want to start over on it, and then
exit Boinc, install the new version in the same folder. Start it up,
it will do it's baseline checks and then start crunching. That is
actually one of the checks that the testers run, to make sure it
install and works this way. Rom Walton has suggested this method for
quite awhile now.

As for Win 2K and XP I have those OS's and am staying with 4.05 for
now. 4.09 will show about 400 points less during your baseline checks
than 4.05, and therefore the amount of credits you get when crunching.
The points are NOT taken away directly, they are a part of the
formula. 4.09 is designed to fix some Win98 issues and some dial-up
connection issues. I don't believe that anything else was addressed in
this release.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation. The baseline checks
thing is good to know.

Cheers, and thanks to Geoff and Barry too.
