Well I gave that one a shot and when I tried to install I got a window that it couldn't find the path....does it sound like I may have a problem with InstallShield?  The exec file downloaded fine but couldn't open....this is getting weird!

Note the various reports of MS SP2 'breaking' various things.

You could be suffering an unholy incompatibility between your virus scanning, firewall(s), Install Shield monitoring, and your trying to get something useful done.

Leave the SP2 firewalling active, disable all other 3rd-party protection, and pray to Lloyd or whatever other favourite diety?

Then try again.

Boinc is very kindly in what is installed where. Although Install Shield is nice, I wouldn't consider it essential in this case. You could instead take a system restore snapshot.

(And then there's Linux (;-))

Good luck,
Martin
