Whenever I run seti (v.4.02) with boinc (v.4.05), my system clock
slows down at a rate of about 5 minutes per hour. My computer is a
Pentium III running Mandrake 9.0. I did not have this problem with the
old seti classic.

Problem remains unsolved. This post is to describe stuff that I've tried and respond to those who made suggestions (thanks).

Anyway I'm planning on upgrading to a more recent version of Mandrake before long. I will then give boinc another try. In the meanwhile, I'll keep crunching with classic.

Thanks for the follow-up. You've stumbled on a very strange case!

Your mouse slowing down and pausing is a very good sign that things are 'not right'... Let us know the results of your next set of changes.

Good luck,
Martin
