"David Gilbert" <digilb@earthlink.net> expounded in
news:b4T2d.5448$n16.220@newsread2.news.atl.earthlink.net:

My SETI Screen saver stopped functioning after installing XP SP2
recently. I completely uninstalled SETI and attempted several times to
reinstall it but nothing has worked yet. The install process starts
out fine but then I get the following message:

C;Windows\System32\Autoexec.nt The system file in not suitable for
running MSDOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to
terminate the application.

The other option given with this message is 'ignore'. I have chosen
that during my many attempts at installing and the install stalls for
about 20 seconds and then ends. I have searched my computer and the
SETI folder does not exist. Additionally, the option for using SETI
in the screen saver portion of Windows does not exist.

Any ideas? I'm running (or attempting to run) SETI on two computers
it has quit on both since installing SP2. The screen saver function
did work initially after installing SP2 but has failed since then.
The only "changes" that have been made to either computer is
installing Norton Virus Definitions.

Has anyone run into this problem?

Thanks!
David

I don't know why S@H stopped working after you installed SP2, but a
problem with the new firewall included with SP2 is an obvious guess.

As for your problem re-installing S@H, go to the MS Knowledge Base and
search for autoexec.nt under Windows XP and you'll come up with several
hits, including the following. Perhaps it, or one of the other articles,
will help.
